Our Mission

The Coosada 911 Communications District is dedicated to providing reliable, efficient, and professional emergency communication services for the Town of Coosada, Alabama. When residents and visitors need help, our job is to make sure emergency services respond quickly, calmly, and effectively.

What We Do

The district operates as a specialized emergency communications service provider for the Town of Coosada, coordinating 911 calls and emergency dispatches for:

  • Coosada Police: law enforcement dispatch and communications
  • Coosada Fire/Rescue: fire and rescue dispatch and communications
  • Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD): protocol‑driven medical pre‑arrival instructions, including Telecommunicator CPR, while dispatching Coosada Fire/Rescue's licensed transport ambulance

Eleven public safety telecommunicators provide 24/7/365 coverage, ensuring that emergency calls are handled promptly and routed to the appropriate first responders at all times.

Current & Future 911 Call Handling

At present, 911 calls originating within the Town of Coosada are initially answered by Elmore County Emergency Communications and then transferred to the Coosada 911 Communications District for local handling.

In the near future, the district will begin taking 911 calls directly once it is fully connected to the Alabama AGEN ESInet and authorized by the Alabama 911 Board. This transition marks a significant advancement in emergency communications capability for Coosada and the surrounding community.

Next‑Generation 911 Platform

Upon activation, the district will operate a Next‑Generation 911 (NG911) call‑taking platform. A fully cloud‑native, standards‑based solution designed to enhance call‑taker efficiency, resiliency, and situational awareness.

The NG911 platform will provide real‑time caller location using device‑based positioning; live video, text, and image sharing from callers; multilingual translation; enhanced GIS mapping; automated incident data ingestion; and seamless interoperability with modern CAD and public safety systems. The platform is built with high availability and redundancy — continuity of operations during disasters, outages, and large‑scale emergencies.
